It is well known that university scientists create a lot of new ideas and drive the innovation of novel technologies. But as a scientist do you know: what makes a good idea into a patentable invention? What to do when you make the invention? How to communicate with companies and investors about the invention? And that commercialization of your invention can assure funds for your research?

This course gives scientists an introduction into the areas of patenting and commercialization, such as IPR and protection, different routes of commercialization, assuring funding to inventions and collaboration with industry. Presenters will include AAU’s Technology Transfer Office, patent agents,industry, and scientists with own experiences in commercialisation.

The ability to work with business development and business planning is becoming a very sought after skill and an increased focus on commercialization and spin out companies is increasingly highlighting an alternative career path within high technology.
